About this position
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is offering a postdoctoral opportunity within the Applied Chemistry and Engineering Research Center of Excellence (ACER CoE) in Benguerir, Morocco.
The position focuses on non-thermal plasma-based hydrogen production, a research topic at the intersection of plasma physics, chemical engineering, energy conversion, catalysis, and sustainability. The successful candidate will investigate plasma-driven hydrogen generation using non-thermal plasma systems, with and without catalytic materials, and study how plasma-generated reactive species and plasma-catalyst interactions influence reaction pathways and hydrogen production efficiency.
The project includes reactor development, plasma diagnostics, and materials characterization. Research activities will involve designing and operating non-thermal plasma reactors, studying the influence of operating conditions such as gas composition, discharge power, pressure, and reactor configuration, and applying optical emission spectroscopy (OES) and laser diagnostic tools to probe plasma behavior. Catalyst and reactor materials will be analyzed using techniques including XRD, SEM, FTIR, and ICP-OES.
ACER CoE is an interdisciplinary research center bringing together expertise in chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, and environmental engineering. The center’s research spans catalysis, separation, energy generation and storage, plasma science, and advanced materials, providing a collaborative environment with existing plasma sources and optical/laser diagnostic systems already in place.
Applicants should hold a PhD in Plasma Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Strong programming and technical computing skills in Python, MATLAB, LABVIEW, or similar environments are expected, along with good English communication skills and the ability to work independently and in teams. Experience in spectroscopy, laser diagnostics, reactor design, and materials characterization is advantageous.
The position is available immediately, with the possibility of postponement until May 2026. Applications should include a cover letter, detailed CV with publication list, and contact information for 2–3 references. For questions, contact et-touhami.es-sebbar@um6p.ma.
