The work is embedded in an interdisciplinary environment with strong computational mechanics and geotechnical/rock mechanics groups.

Eligibility highlights: applicants need a relevant Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or equivalent; strong background in mathematics, dynamics, and wave propagation; and a grade average of B or better on NTNU's scale (or equivalent). Master students may apply if they complete and document the degree before starting, and no later than 2026-11-30. English fluency is required, and applicants with MSc degrees from outside Europe are expected to document language proficiency unless waived in extraordinary circumstances.

Funding and conditions: this is a salaried PhD employment, normally NOK 550,800 gross per year depending on qualifications and seniority, with a 3-year employment period. The position requires admission to NTNU's PhD programme in engineering within three months of starting.
