About this position

PhD Candidate Opportunity at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (UFV), Madrid in advanced and sustainable materials.

The supervisor is Guang-Zhong Yin (Ramón y Cajal Fellow, R3 Certified Senior Researcher), and the selected candidate will join research on topics such as fire-safe phase change materials, bio-based aerogels and porous materials, flame-retardant polymer composites, thermal energy storage, thermal management, and sustainable multifunctional materials.

This is a full-time predoctoral research contract under the 2027 UFV Predoctoral Research Contract (IPF). The contract is initially for one year and renewable annually for up to four years. Funding includes a gross annual salary of €18,908 in Years 1–2 and €19,869 in Years 3–4, plus Spanish Social Security coverage. UFV doctoral tuition fees are exempted, although programme registration fees still apply.

Eligibility highlights: a completed degree that grants access to doctoral studies; minimum weighted academic grade of 6.5/10 for candidates from experimental sciences, engineering, technical or health-related disciplines; strong academic and research profile; good English communication and scientific writing skills; and clear motivation for full-time doctoral research. Previous research experience, publications, laboratory skills, and external research funding applications are positively valued.
