About this position

PhD fellowship in molecular nanomaterials and low-dimensional materials at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen in Denmark.

The project focuses on developing new organic conjugated molecules and nanomaterials, including fluorescent and electroactive molecules with potential applications in imaging, sensing, and energy materials. The research group of Prof. Bo W. Laursen at the Nano-Science Center and Department of Chemistry works on the design and synthesis of fluorescent dyes and materials, especially cationic dyes from the triangulenium and rhodamine families, and collaborates broadly with other research groups.

This is a three-year full-time PhD fellowship under the regular PhD programme (5+3 scheme). Applicants should have a background in chemistry, physics, or materials science, with a degree equivalent to a Danish master’s degree for the regular programme. Strong English skills are required. Helpful experience includes fluorescence, TCSPC, time-resolved spectroscopy, molecular materials, low-dimensional materials, nanoparticles, and bio-conjugation.

To apply, submit the application in English through the online portal before 2026-08-16. Required documents include a motivation letter, CV, diplomas and transcripts, and optionally a publication list and reference letters. The position starts on 2026-11-01 or as soon as possible thereafter.
