About this position

We are recruiting a PhD student for the Warsaw4PhD Doctoral School at the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, in the Environmental Chemistry Research Group.

The project is titled “Tire-Derived Organic Pollutants as Drivers of Airway Epithelial Toxicity” and sits at the intersection of environmental chemistry, atmospheric chemistry, exposure science, inhalation toxicology, air pollution, and human respiratory health. The research will examine how atmospheric aging changes the chemistry of tire-derived pollutants and whether those changes increase toxicity to the human airway.

The PhD student will work with ambient PM₂.₅ sampling, advanced chemical characterization, atmospheric aging experiments, and human airway models. This is a strong fit for candidates interested in non-exhaust traffic emissions, emerging contaminants, particulate matter, and lung health.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in biology, biotechnology, toxicology, environmental sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field, plus a clear motivation to develop interdisciplinary research skills.

Application deadline: 7 August 2026. Interested candidates should follow the linked Warsaw4PhD project page/PDF for the official call and submission details.
