About this position
PostDoc in Histology at the National Institute of Research and Innovation in Riga, Latvia, within the Horizon 2020 Baltic Biomaterials Centre of Excellence (BBCE) project.
The successful candidate will join the BBCE Pre-clinical Biomaterial Evaluation Group and study tissue responses to biomaterials intended for bone repair, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and cancer-related biomaterial/nanoparticle applications. The project sits within a collaborative Baltic and European biomaterials network involving Riga Technical University, Rīga Stradiņš University, AO Research Institute Davos, and Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg.
Applicants should be experienced in histology, immunohistochemistry, and confocal microscopy. Strong candidates with bone histology and tumour histology expertise are especially encouraged to apply. Additional experience in biomaterials, small animal handling, hard tissue embedding, and sectioning is considered an advantage.
The position is full-time and temporary, with a basic salary of EUR 52,000 per year before tax, plus health insurance. Dedicated funding is available for training and short-term mobility subject to project arrangements. The role may also include specialised training and research visits to collaborating institutions.
Eligibility requires a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field such as life sciences, medicine, or pharmacy, together with an established scientific record in histology, pathology, and confocal microscopy.
