About this position

Postdoc opportunity at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in markerless motion capture, computer vision, biomechanics, and neurological rehabilitation.

The BODIES group in the Department of Biomechanical Engineering at TU Delft is recruiting a full-time, fully funded postdoctoral researcher for a 36-month project on privacy-preserving, single-camera markerless motion capture for clinical assessment and long-term home monitoring of motor impairments in stroke and Parkinson's disease patients.

You will work on validating a markerless motion capture system against marker-based data, generating biomechanically accurate synthetic video data, developing a home-based single-camera system, testing performance in lab and home environments, and designing clinician-facing visualization tools with privacy-by-design anonymization.

The project is embedded in the multidisciplinary “Care is coming home!” consortium, involving TU Delft, University of Twente, hospitals, companies such as Model Health and Moveshelf, a rehabilitation centre, and patient organisations. Part of the work is based on-site at Model Health in Leuven, Belgium.

Eligibility highlights: PhD in Biomechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Vision, Robotics, or a related field; experience with pose estimation, computer vision, and/or synthetic data generation; strong Python/programming skills; interest in clinical gait data from neurological populations; excellent communication and organizational skills; fluency in English. Dutch is a plus, and Moroccan Arabic or Turkish is an additional advantage.

Funding: fully funded postdoc, full-time, 36 months, with salary and benefits under the Dutch universities collective agreement. Listed salary range: €3546–€5538 per month.
