About this position
TU Delft is advertising a Postdoc in Molecular Dynamics and Process Simulation of High-Temperature Thermal Storage Systems within the Heat Transformation Technology Section of the Process & Energy Department, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The project focuses on molten salts for high-temperature thermal energy storage and aims to support the electrification of industry and the sustainable production of carbon-based chemicals. The research combines molecular dynamics with process-scale simulation to connect molecular-level understanding with engineering-scale performance.
The work is part of the HyCarb project and involves collaboration with academic, industrial, and research partners across the Netherlands. The postdoc will work closely with industrial stakeholders and Dutch research institutes on both fundamental and technological development.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, physics, or a related field; experience with molecular simulation and/or process modelling and simulation; strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer; and excellent English communication skills.
Funding and conditions: 2-year temporary postdoctoral contract, 36–40 hours per week, salary range €4728–€6433, plus Dutch university employment benefits such as pension, leave hours, training opportunities, and partially paid parental leave.
