About this position

New York University Tandon School of Engineering is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate in the Human Factors & Urban Ergonomics Lab (HumanFUEL) with Dr. Linda Boyle in Brooklyn, New York, United States.

The position focuses on human factors, urban ergonomics, human behavior modeling, and experimental research on driver/pedestrian/user behavior. The lab studies how people interact with complex systems to improve operator safety, productivity, and comfort. Research activities include literature reviews, experiment design, human performance data collection and analysis, computational modeling of behavior in driving scenarios, journal and conference writing, grant support, student mentoring, IRB management, and lab operations.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field. Required experience includes peer-reviewed publications, strong scientific writing, human-subjects experimentation, IRB and ethics compliance, statistical modeling of reaction time/workload/situational awareness data, and programming in Python, R, and/or MATLAB. Preferred experience includes driving simulators, Unity3D, eye tracking, physiological sensors, motion capture, data/video coding, and computer vision tools such as OpenCV and scikit-learn.

The appointment is a one-year postdoctoral position with an opportunity for an additional year. The annual base salary is $75,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
