About this position
Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Department of Aquatic Resources (SLU Aqua), is advertising a postdoctoral position in Aquatic Ecosystem Resilience and Climate Adaptation in Uppsala, Sweden.
This two-year postdoc focuses on aquatic ecology, climate adaptation, evidence synthesis, systematic reviews, and meta-analysis. The project asks how aquatic management can strengthen ecosystem resilience to climate change, how dispersal and ecological interactions affect adaptation measures, and how evidence can be translated into practical decision support for environmental managers.
The successful candidate will work in a collaborative research environment with ecologists and evolutionary biologists from SLU and the Swedish Natural History Museum, with close links to practitioners, authorities, and managers. The role includes scientific publishing, conference participation, stakeholder engagement, and opportunities to develop an independent research profile.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Biology (ecology/evolution), Environmental Science, or a similar field; strong experience with systematic reviews, meta-analyses, or related evidence-synthesising methods; and good written and oral English. Experience in environmental management, governance of aquatic resources, conservation planning, restoration ecology, climate change research, or coastal/marine collaboration is an advantage. The position is intended for an early-career researcher, normally within three years of PhD completion.
Employment details: temporary employment for 24 months, 100% scope, starting upon agreement but no later than 1 January 2027. No stipend amount is stated; this is a salaried postdoctoral employment.
Application deadline: 17 August 2026. Apply via the SLU recruitment portal and include a cover letter, CV with publication list, PhD diploma, transcripts, and contact details for two reference persons. The application must be written in English.
