About this position

IMT Atlantique is advertising a postdoctoral position in human factors / cognitive psychology within the Automatic Control, Production and Computer Science Department (DAPI) on the Nantes campus in France. The post is embedded in the PACCE team at LS2N (UMR CNRS 6004) and is associated with the ANR-PRCI COMIX research project. The project focuses on improving design activities through interactive display environments that support collaborative design for co-located groups and distributed teams.

The successful candidate will join a research environment that combines engineering, cognitive science, ergonomics, and human-computer interaction. The main research tasks include developing observation grids for activities, designing interview frameworks to evaluate collaboration quality, proposing a new discourse analysis method, creating complementary questionnaires, and contributing to the validation of these tools. The role is therefore well suited to a researcher interested in human collaboration, evaluation methodology, and applied studies of interactive systems.

The position is full-time and temporary, with a 38-hour work week and an expected start date of 1 November 2026. The application deadline is 30 August 2026, and interviews are conducted on a rolling basis. The role is based in Nantes, France, and is hosted by IMT Atlantique, a leading engineering school within the Institut Mines-Télécom network.

Eligibility requirements specify a PhD obtained less than three years before the hiring date in ergonomics, HCI, cognitive psychology, or a related field. Applicants should have skills in data analysis methods, virtual reality evaluation methods, and human collaboration evaluation methods, as well as prior experience in ergonomics, HCI, cognitive psychology, or a related discipline. Strong English oral and written communication skills and a collaborative mindset are also expected.

Funding is provided through a salaried postdoctoral contract, with an indicative gross annual salary of €35,800 depending on profile and experience. Additional benefits include on-site cafeteria access, sports and leisure offers, public transport subsidies, sustainable mobility support, family allowance, social benefits, partial teleworking, and generous leave. The position is not funded by an EU research framework programme.

Applicants should use the Recruitee application page provided by IMT Atlantique. The contact email listed in the notice is cedric.fleury@imt-atlantique.fr.
