Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Fine Arts, Art History, and Theory Brno University of Technology in Czech Republic

The Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) at Brno University of Technology (BUT) invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow position, aimed at international early-career researchers specializing in art history and theory, aesthetics, visual studies, media theory, curatorial studies, and artistic research. This opportunity is designed to support recent PhD graduates in their transition to professional academic careers, while contributing to the faculty’s research and innovation.

The successful candidate will join the FFA Research Centre and participate in research and development activities, implementing their proposed project. Key expectations include publishing at least one article in a top-quartile (Q1 or Q2) journal indexed in the Web of Science with clear affiliation to FFA BUT, involvement in academic activities within the doctoral study programme (such as lectures, seminars, or thesis consultations), and delivering a public presentation to communicate research outcomes to the wider public.

Applicants must have completed their doctoral studies within the past eight years, preferably at an institution outside Czechia, or at a Czech university with at least one year of affiliation abroad. The maximum period may be extended for maternity or parental leave, long-term illness, or care for a dependent person. Candidates should have 1–4 years of research experience and a good command of English.
