About this position
The University of Vienna is advertising a postdoctoral University Assistant position in the Department of Liturgical Studies and Sacramental Theology at the Institute of Historical Theology, Faculty of Catholic Theology.
The role focuses on research and teaching in Liturgical Studies, Sacramental Theology, comparative liturgiology, Anglican liturgy, Eastern Church and Oriental liturgies, early Church liturgies, and contemporary pastoral-liturgical questions such as virtual worship services and liturgical hygiene. The department also works with the internationally recognized open-access journal Ex Fonte.
This is a postdoctoral opening with active participation in research, teaching, administration, co-supervision of doctoral students, publication work, project applications, and the development of an independent research profile. The appointment is fixed-term for 6 years.
Eligibility highlights: a doctorate/PhD in Catholic Theology or an equivalent qualification; specialization in liturgical studies or a related liturgical topic; very good German; excellent English; teaching experience; familiarity with university governance and quality assurance; ability to work with liturgical languages such as Latin and Ancient Greek; and experience with research projects and peer-reviewed publications.
Funding/salary: basic salary of EUR 5,014.30 gross per month, paid 14 times per year, with possible increases based on recognized professional experience.
