Postdoctoral Researchers in Biosensing and Wearable Bioelectronics at the University of Washington

The Yang Lab at the University of Washington (Materials Science & Engineering) is recruiting two postdoctoral researchers for a newly funded interdisciplinary program at the interface of biosensing and wearable bioelectronics . The positions are in close collaboration with the Baker Lab at the UW Institute for Protein Design, with potential co-advising and access to state-of-the-art nanofabrication and characterization facilities. The project has strong translational goals toward real-world health applications. Position 1: Biochemical Sensing — suitable for candidates with a PhD in electrochemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field. Hands-on experience in electrochemical and/or affinity-based biosensing is required. Preferred experience includes surface functionalization, biomolecule immobilization on electrodes, sensor performance characterization in complex biological samples, biomolecule handling, and anti-fouling surface chemistry. Position 2: Wearable Bioelectronic Devices — suitable for candidates with a PhD in electrical, materials, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or a related field). Strong hands-on microfabrication/cleanroom experience is required. Preferred experience includes thin-film deposition, photolithography, patterning, electrode fabrication on flexible substrates, flexible/wearable device integration, microfluidics, multi-material device stacks, and device reliability testing. The start date is targeted for September 2026 . This is a funded postdoctoral opportunity in a highly collaborative environment.
