PhD in AI-Driven Adaptive Modulation Strategies for EMI Mitigation in SiC/GaN Power Converters
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is inviting applications for a
full-time PhD position
in
AI-Driven Adaptive Modulation Strategies for EMI Mitigation in SiC/GaN Power Converters
at the Coimbatore campus, Tamil Nadu, India.
The project sits at the intersection of
power electronics
,
computer science
, and
embedded control
. The research aims to develop intelligent modulation frameworks for
Silicon Carbide (SiC)
and
Gallium Nitride (GaN)
wide-bandgap converters, with the goal of improving switching efficiency, harmonic quality, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression. A major theme is the creation of
hybrid AI-physics models
that combine converter switching behaviour with data-driven learning for real-time adaptability and physical interpretability.
The work will involve high-frequency converter design, AI-driven modulation control, embedded real-time implementation, and experimental EMC validation. Application areas include EV chargers, solar inverters, and industrial motor drives. The post references compliance with EMC standards such as
CISPR 11/25
.
Eligibility:
M.E./M.Tech in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication, or a related discipline. Strong B.E./B.Tech candidates with exceptional academic record and research aptitude may also be considered subject to university norms.
GATE-qualified candidates are preferred
. Desired skills include power converter design, hardware prototyping, MATLAB/Simulink or LTspice, Embedded C/DSP programming on TI C2000 or STM32, and familiarity with EMI/EMC standards. Prior research or publication experience is desirable but not mandatory.
Funding:
Fellowship of
₹30,000–₹40,000 per month
, with enhanced opportunities up to
₹55,000 per month
. The project also offers research infrastructure support up to
₹10 lakhs
, publication support up to
₹6 lakhs
, international collaboration and conference travel funding, and innovation/patent/startup ecosystem support.
