The Joan Oró predoctoral fellowship is a competitive, fully funded program managed by the Agència de Gestió d'Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR) and the Departament de Recerca i Universitats. It provides a contract for predoctoral researchers, covering salary and social security contributions for the duration of the PhD. The fellowship is open to candidates who have completed a bachelor's or master's degree within the European Higher Education Area, or who are enrolled in a doctoral program in Catalonia. A high academic record (minimum GPA 6.5/10 or equivalent) is essential, and the degree leading to the PhD must have been completed between January 1, 2023, and the contract start date, with possible extensions for certain personal circumstances.
Applicants must not have previously received Joan Oró FI, FI-SDUR, or FI-STEP predoctoral contracts, nor held a predoctoral contract for more than 12 months. A thesis supervisor at the host institution is required, and a signed declaration from the supervisor must be included in the application. Additional required documentation includes academic transcripts, equivalence statements for foreign degrees, and proof of enrollment or completion of relevant degrees.
