PhD Opportunity in Quantum Computing, Quantum Simulation, and Quantum Many-Body Physics

Applications are open for a PhD opportunity in quantum computing and quantum simulation through a collaborative programme between Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati . The project is titled “Quantum Simulation of Thermalization Dynamics in Quantum Many-Body Systems and Lattice Gauge Theories.” The research focuses on developing and applying novel quantum algorithms , implementing them on quantum hardware , and benchmarking results using state-of-the-art classical computation . This is a strong fit for students interested in physics , computer science , mathematics , and theoretical work at the interface of quantum information and fundamental physics. Supervision: Prof. Indrakshi Raychowdhury (BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus) and Prof. sambuddha sanyal (IISER Tirupati). Funding: Stipend of ₹37,000–42,000 per month plus HRA as per rules. Eligibility: M.Sc., B.E., B.Pharm., or equivalent degree with at least 60% aggregate. Candidates with a strong physics background and interest in quantum many-body physics, computational methods, quantum computation/simulation, or theoretical fundamental physics are preferred. CSIR-UGC NET/JRF, GATE, JEST, or equivalent qualifications are preferred. Deadline: 20 July 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed online from 21–27 July 2026.
