The HARPA project, funded by the
EIC Pathfinder Challenge
, explores how heterogeneous aerial robotics teams can autonomously assemble a pavilion. The work focuses on
task-level planning

coordination

for aerial robotic construction.
You will work in the
Autonomous Multi-Robots Lab
in the
Cognitive Robotics Department
, supervised by
Dr. Sihao Sun
and
Prof. Javier Alonso-Mora
. The project involves collaboration with partners from
ETH Zurich
and
TU Munich
, and aims toward a real-world demonstration of autonomous pavilion assembly using heterogeneous aerial robots such as
Cable-Suspended Aerial Multi-Lifting Systems (CAMLs)
and
Aerial Robotic Manipulators (ARMs)
.
Eligibility highlights:
a PhD in Robotics, Control, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field; strong background in planning/coordination, autonomy, manipulation, optimal control, learning, or human-robot interaction; programming in C++ and/or Python; ROS/ROS 2 and simulation/digital twin experience preferred; strong publication record and English communication skills.
Funding and conditions:
2-year postdoctoral contract, 38-40 hours/week, salary range €3546-€5538, with Dutch university employment benefits including pension, leave hours, training opportunities, and partial parental leave.
