PhD opportunity in River Basin Hydrology at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) , focused on Climate Change and Hydrological Extremes . The project addresses more reliable hydrological predictions for the Rhine-Meuse river basin by quantifying natural vegetation adaptation to a changing climate, improving the wFlow-SBM hydrological model with time-variable vegetation parametrization, and analyzing impacts on soil moisture , groundwater , and streamflow . The PhD will be carried out in close collaboration with Rijkswaterstaat (Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management) and Deltares . At TU Delft, the candidate will be hosted by the Water Management Department in the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences . The supervision team at TU Delft is led by Prof. Markus Hrachowitz . Eligibility highlights: MSc degree in Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; excellent programming and GIS skills; strong written and spoken English; Dutch is an advantage; and a clear interest in interdisciplinary research connecting plant physiology, soil science, geology, and hydrology.
