Santa Clara University is recruiting a PhD student to join Mohammad Ayoubi’s research group for work on rotordynamics and vibration control of rotary machines. The project focuses on the dynamics and vibration suppression of systems whose mass properties change during operation, with research directions including: • Nonlinear rotordynamics of flexible rotors with nonlinear bearing supports • Physics-informed and data-driven system identification for rotating machinery • Active and passive vibration suppression strategies for variable-mass rotating systems • Applications in aerospace and industrial rotating machinery Ideal applicants should have an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field. A strong background in dynamics, vibrations, and controls is expected, along with programming experience in MATLAB/Simulink.
