Fully funded PhD scholarship at The University of Queensland (Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology) on Sustainable Valorisation of Seaweeds for High-Value Biomaterials . The project, supported by the Marine Bioeconomy CRC , will develop an integrated biorefinery approach to transform Australian-grown Ulva seaweed into high-value, commercially relevant biomaterials. The research is strongly aligned with materials science , chemical engineering , biotechnology , bioprocess engineering , biomaterials , and sustainable manufacturing . Students will gain experience in seaweed and biomass processing, biopolymer extraction and characterisation, sustainable biomaterials and biorefinery development, advanced materials characterisation, and industry collaboration with translation-focused research. The project is undertaken in close collaboration with industry partners and Professor Nick Paul at the University of the Sunshine Coast . Funding includes a tax-free stipend of $60,000 per year (indexed annually) for 3.5 years , full tuition-fee coverage , and up to $20,000 in research operating funds for research activities, conferences, and placements.
