Shaojie Zhang

Postdoctoral Researchers in Computational Genomics & Algorithms are being recruited at the University of Central Florida in the Department of Computer Science. The lab focuses on algorithm design , software development , computational genomics , population genomics , pangenome analysis , and large-scale human genetics . The group has developed tools such as RaPID for identity-by-descent segment calling and PBWT-based methods for large-scale haplotype analysis, and works on ultra-efficient pangenome indexing at terabase scale. Research is connected to major projects supported by the Human Pangenome Reference Consortium and multiple NIH-funded research grants , with applications to large biobank datasets such as UK Biobank and All of Us . Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field. Strong programming and algorithmic skills are essential; C++ is preferred, while Python or Java are also acceptable. A strong publication record is expected. Prior genomics experience is not required.
