University of South Carolina is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow in Chemical Engineering for research on anion-exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyzers , with emphasis on catalyst synthesis , electrode optimization , and suppressing hydroxyl radical attack during operation. The position is in the research group of William Mustain , Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Director of the Carolina Institute for Battery Innovation. The work is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy and involves materials synthesis, catalyst development, electrochemical testing, and advanced characterization. Successful applicants should have a Ph.D. by the start date and strong experience in AEM electrolyzers (AEM fuel cells may be acceptable), MEA fabrication , materials synthesis, and advanced physical characterization tools. Experience with electrochemical data analysis such as polarization curves, voltammetry, rotating disk electrode methods, and EIS is preferred. The role includes laboratory experiments, literature review, research documentation, technical reporting, manuscript preparation, presentations, and collaboration with faculty, researchers, and students.
