About this position

DAAD Study Scholarships – Master Studies for All Academic Disciplines

This is a Master’s/postgraduate scholarship for international students and researchers who want to continue their academic education in Germany. The programme supports study in all academic disciplines, with separate DAAD schemes for architecture and artistic fields such as fine art/design/film, performing art, and music.

What is funded: a full postgraduate or Master’s degree at a state or state-recognised university in Germany, or one year of study in Germany as part of a second or Master’s degree completed at the home university, provided credits are recognised. Funding is intended for programmes starting in the winter semester of the following year and must begin in 2027; the scholarship usually starts on 1 October 2027 or earlier if a German language course is taken first.

Funding package: €992 per month, insurance coverage (health, accident, personal liability), travel allowance on application, and an annual study allowance of €460. Additional support may include rent subsidy, family allowance, disability/chronic illness-related support, and Green Mobility Top Up or carbon-offset reimbursement. The DAAD may also cover language preparation, including online German courses, pre-study German courses, German courses during the scholarship, and reimbursement for TestDaF or DSH fees.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must have completed their first degree (Bachelor’s or Diplom) by the start of funding. Selection is based on academic performance, study project quality, language proficiency, relevant internships/work experience, motivation, prospects, and extracurricular commitment.

Important note: DAAD does not cover tuition fees.

Application: use the DAAD scholarship database entry and follow the application requirements/procedure tabs in the announcement.
