About this position

Fully funded DAAD EPOS Scholarships 2026/2027 are open for postgraduate study in Germany, with a strong focus on agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural economics, food systems, food security, rural development, natural resource management, environmental sciences, and related development-oriented fields.

This opportunity is part of the Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) programme of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). It is designed for professionals from developing and newly industrialised countries who want to strengthen their expertise and contribute to sustainable development in their home countries.

Funding includes full tuition fees where applicable, a monthly living stipend, health insurance, travel allowance, and German language training where relevant. The DAAD page also notes monthly payments of 992 euros for graduates or 1,300 euros (1,400 euros from February 2026) for doctoral candidates, plus possible rent subsidy and family allowance under certain circumstances.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance, usually in a related subject, and have at least two years of relevant professional experience after graduation. Applicants must show a clear commitment to development and social responsibility. For German-taught courses, a minimum German level of B1 is required at application, with DSH 2 or TestDaF 4 needed before the course starts. For English-taught courses, proof of adequate English proficiency is required according to the chosen programme.

Application process: apply directly to the selected postgraduate course or university, not to DAAD first. You may apply for up to three courses, and each course may have its own deadline and additional document requirements. If shortlisted by the course, DAAD will contact you to upload the full application to the DAAD portal.

Best fit fields include agribusiness, agricultural economics, food systems, food security, rural development, natural resource management, environmental sciences, tropical forestry, and other development-related disciplines offered by participating EPOS programmes.
