About this position
PhD workshop opportunity in Structural Change, Growth, and Economic Development at the University of Glasgow (Adam Smith Business School), taking place on 6 October 2026 as part of the Wealth of Nations 250 programme.
The workshop will be led by Professor Douglas Gollin (Tufts University / Oxford) and focuses on foundational frameworks and frontier research in growth economics, development economics, and economic history. Topics include structural change, the reallocation of labour and resources across agriculture, industry, and services, productivity gaps, sectoral linkages, and long-run development.
There is also a poster session for PhD students and early career researchers, with a Best Poster Prize and reception.
Eligibility highlights: PhD students and ECRs working in growth, development, or economic history. University of Glasgow PhD students have precedence. Poster submissions should be an extended abstract of up to 1000 words, and projects where all coauthors are at most three years post-PhD are given precedence.
Funding/costs: No participation fee, but travel, accommodation, and meals are self-funded.
