PhD workshop opportunity in Structural Change, Growth, and Economic Development at the University of Glasgow (Adam Smith Business School), taking place on 6 October 2026 as part of the Wealth of Nations 250 programme. The workshop will be led by Professor Douglas Gollin (Tufts University / Oxford) and focuses on foundational frameworks and frontier research in growth economics , development economics , and economic history . Topics include structural change, the reallocation of labour and resources across agriculture, industry, and services, productivity gaps, sectoral linkages, and long-run development. There is also a poster session for PhD students and early career researchers , with a Best Poster Prize and reception. Eligibility highlights: PhD students and ECRs working in growth, development, or economic history. University of Glasgow PhD students have precedence. Poster submissions should be an extended abstract of up to 1000 words , and projects where all coauthors are at most three years post-PhD are given precedence. Funding/costs: No participation fee, but travel, accommodation, and meals are self-funded. Deadline: register or submit a poster abstract by 31 August 2026 ; selections are announced by 14 September 2026 .
