About this position

KTH Royal Institute of Technology is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow in Nuclear Engineering to develop experimental methods for two-phase flows. The project focuses on creating a probe for measuring void fraction and velocity under prototypic reactor conditions, with an emphasis on the development of miniature sensors and their use in the HWAT facility.

The HWAT facility supports research into thermohydraulic phenomena relevant to small modular reactors (SMRs). This position sits within a collaborative European project and a national project supported by the Swedish nuclear regulator (SSM), giving the successful candidate the opportunity to contribute to applied research with direct relevance to advanced nuclear systems.

The research is strongly experimental and spans nuclear engineering, thermohydraulics, micro-mechanical manufacturing, sol-gel chemistry, and high-frequency signal processing. Candidates should therefore be comfortable working with instrumentation, experimental flow studies, and sensor development in a laboratory setting.

Eligibility requires a doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree by the time the employment decision is made. The preferred profile is a PhD completed within the last three years in experimental nuclear engineering, micro-mechanics, sol-gel chemistry, or experimental thermohydraulics. Experience with two-phase flow experiments, sol-gel coating, micro-mechanical manufacturing, and signal processing will be particularly valuable.

The role is a temporary full-time postdoctoral appointment for up to two years at KTH in Stockholm, Sweden.
