About this position
Postdoc opportunity at the University of Amsterdam in the Ultracold Strontium Group / Strontium Quantum Gases Group within the Institute of Physics, Faculty of Science. The project focuses on quantum simulation and quantum computing with single Sr atoms in optical tweezers, with research directions including 3D spin systems, spin dynamics on fractals, qudits, ultracold atom experiments, and related AMO physics.
The role involves experimental work on the tweezer machine, debugging, data taking, designing and constructing upgrades, data analysis, literature research, article writing, and contributing to funding acquisition. The group is led by Prof. Dr. Florian Schreck and is embedded in the QDNL KAT-1 Neutral Atom Quantum Computing team, with collaboration with TU/e and links to Quantum Delta NL activities.
Eligibility highlights: a recent PhD in experimental ultracold atom or trapped ion physics, strong teamwork, initiative, management skills, and good English communication. The position is a 24-month postdoc contract at 38 hours/week. Salary is €3,546–€5,538 gross per month plus holiday allowance and year-end bonus; the 30% ruling may apply to non-Dutch applicants.
