You will help build a zero-deadtime, continuously operating optical clock using a continuous ultracold Sr source and multiple interrogation zones. The work includes integrating laser systems, optics, electronics, debugging, data taking, upgrades, data analysis, literature research, and article writing. The position is embedded in a lively international research environment and connected to broader quantum technology activities, including quantum sensing, continuous Bose-Einstein condensation, optical time/frequency distribution, and related quantum technology collaborations. Eligibility highlights: a recent master’s degree in experimental ultracold atom or trapped ion physics, strong teamwork, initiative, good time management, and good oral/written English. The role also includes teaching support for bachelor and master students and participation in group activities and outreach. Funding and contract: temporary PhD contract for 4 years total (initial 18 months, then extension after satisfactory evaluation), 38 hours/week.
