About this position

University of Bayreuth is advertising a full-time PostDoc position in the Professorship Mobile Computing and Telemedicine. The research focus includes human-centred interaction design for medical data and AI systems, digital collaboration, telemedical care across distances, and digital health education and empowerment of students and patients.

The role involves independent research in the professorship’s core areas, helping set up research infrastructure, supporting third-party funding applications, developing and evaluating interaction techniques and collaboration/health education systems, publishing in journals and presenting at conferences, supervising theses (including co-supervision of PhD students), and assisting with teaching.

Eligibility highlights: a good to very good PhD in computer science or medical engineering with a focus on human-computer interaction or a closely related field; applicants with a submitted thesis and pending defense may also apply. Strong programming skills for interactive systems (e.g. Unity, web design, Python), solid HCI knowledge, experience with experimental design and statistical analysis, excellent English, and basic German are expected.

Funding: the position is full-time for 2 years and paid according to German public-sector level E13. The application deadline is 20 August 2026.
