About this position

Postdoctoral position in Formulation Technology with focus on characterization of soft matter using AF4-SANS at Lund University, Sweden.

The position is based in the Division of Food and Pharma within the Department of Process and Life Science Engineering (PLE) at the Faculty of Engineering (LTH). The project develops a novel asymmetric flow field-flow fractionation (AF4) coupling with small angle neutron scattering (SANS) as a sample environment at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund. The work is closely linked to ESS and the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source in the UK, with broader collaboration across international partners and access to large-scale facilities such as MAX IV and ESS.

Research focus: soft matter characterization, formulation technology, colloid science, pharmaceutical formulation, SANS/SAXS, AF4, analytical separation methods, and advanced data processing/interpretation. The postdoc will drive development of AF4-SANS, apply for beamtime, design experiments, process and interpret scattering data, and contribute to related projects in the research group.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in a relevant area (e.g. colloid science, soft matter, biophysics, pharmaceutical formulation), documented experience with SANS and/or SAXS on soft materials, advanced data analysis skills, very good English, and strong collaborative/independent working ability. Extra merits include experience with SEC or AF4 and prior beamtime applications/grants at neutron or synchrotron facilities.

Funding and terms: full-time, fixed-term employment for 3 years. The project is financed by the Swedish Research Council (VR). Teaching may be included up to 20% of working time.
