About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher in Farm Labor Markets and Environmental Economics at the University of Luxembourg, within the Luxembourg Centre for Socio-Environmental Systems (LCSES) and the Economics of Sustainability (EoS) Group.

This position focuses on the human and social dimensions of food systems transformation, especially farm labor markets, environmental economics, agricultural economics, and climate change. The successful candidate will study how European producers adapt to labor scarcity, heat stress, and other pressures affecting agricultural production and rural communities. The work includes building a standardized fine-scale database on farm workers in Europe, identifying labor sub-groups and data gaps, and applying advanced modelling techniques for local agricultural systems and global market interactions.

The role also contributes to the development of a Farm Labor module within the SIMPLE-G modelling framework and evaluates interactions between labor markets, dietary change, climate impacts, and policy initiatives. This is a strong fit for researchers interested in integrated assessment models, fine-scale modelling, big data, and sustainability-oriented policy analysis.

Eligibility highlights: PhD in agricultural, environmental, or applied/environmental economics (or closely related field); experience with integrated assessment models and coding languages; strong publication record; expertise in fine-scale modelling and large datasets; prior policy evaluation work related to biodiversity or agricultural sustainability; experience in GAMS or GEMPACK; strong English skills (Luxembourgish, French, and/or German are assets).

Funding and contract: fixed-term full-time postdoctoral contract for 36 months. The yearly gross salary is EUR 85,176.

How to apply: submit the application online via the HR system. Include a CV, cover letter, PhD diploma, transcript, publication list, contact details for 3 referees, and 2 papers in PDF. Applications by email will not be considered. Early application is encouraged because applications are processed upon reception.

Location: Belval Campus, Luxembourg.
