Postdoc in NanoCT and XRD-CT for Battery Research at MAX IV / DanMAX

MAX IV Laboratory and the DanMAX beamline in Lund, Sweden, are recruiting postdoctoral researchers for the BatMAX consortium, a collaborative battery research initiative involving MAX IV, Chalmers University of Technology, Lund University, Uppsala University, and Aarhus University. One opening focuses on nanoCT at DanMAX, with work on developing nano computed tomography experiments, integrating them into the user program, supporting users, and contributing to BatMAX battery hub experiments. The project is hosted by the Division of Materials Physics at Chalmers University of Technology and is co-supervised by Prof. Aleksandar Matic. A second opening focuses on XRD-CT at DanMAX, with work on optimizing X-ray diffraction computed tomography methods, hardware, scanning algorithms, reconstruction software, and battery-focused applications. This position is hosted by the Division of Solid Mechanics at Lund University. Both roles are centered on battery research , especially solid-state batteries and Na-ion batteries , and involve cross-beamline collaboration through the BatMAX hub and the MAX IV Battery Matrix. The work includes experimental development, beamline operation, user support, data analysis, and scientific publishing. Required background includes a PhD in chemistry, physics, engineering, or a closely related subject; proven experience with X-ray imaging/diffraction methods such as µCT, nanoCT, TXM, XRD-CT, or similar; programming skills such as Python; and strong English, communication, and teamwork skills. Helpful experience includes synchrotron or neutron experiments, X-ray optics, electrochemistry, battery materials, reconstruction methods, and user-facility support. The positions are full-time, fixed-term postdoctoral appointments for 2 to 3 years and are funded through the COMPEL national strategic initiative. The application deadline is 2026-08-31 .
